Osborne Shopping Fun

If you are a fellow Winnipegger, then you know of this little place called Osborne Village. It was voted Canada's greatest neighbourhood and it is my favourite place to just walk around for hours and hours. Eventually I would love to get an apartment because everything is within walking distance and is about 5-10 minutes from the downtown area (even Osborne to me is our downtown). My sister and I went down there to check out what was in the stores stopping in some of my favourite stores such as Out of the Blue and Hush/Shout.

Out of the Blue

This store is amazing combining vintage with modern and girly, fun pieces. My sister was in heaven being that she is way more girly than I am and pulled some clothes for me to wear. I did  see a dress that I liked (one on the left) and looked so pretty on but the price was a bit more than I wanted to spend. Then I found a really cute shirt (right) but unfortunately it didn't over my bigger than average bust size. I wanted to take a pic of the dressing rooms because they are soooo adorable, it's all like old newspapers and 50's cartoons. I ended buying a shirt that my sister picked out for me, that is black and more on the dressy side. It's great for work, if my workplace had an actual dress code instead jeans and hoodies.

My outfit for our sisterly bonding trip include some of my summer basics such as my old and worn Joe Fresh jean shorts and my flowing vest from Winners. I know that flip-flops aren't normally something you see on a blogger but I have found myself wearing them on my days off. The main reason is that my work forbids them but I can still wear sandals, they just have to have a back or slippy thing.

LOL Moment of the Week

There was a moment this week that made laugh at myself and so I decided to take a page from one of my favourite bloggers Marion Berry Style.I got some new nail polish from Joe Fresh and came up with a cute yet tough manicure, all pink then shiny silver on my middle finger. Then like on the Friday I get to work look down at my hand and almost burst out laughing at my visible tan line. I have been trying a self tanner moisturizer to see if I look any different, which might work if I actually applied it every night. It's been a week since then and it's almost gone by now but this picture still make giggle. Did you have moment during the week that made you smile or just laugh hysterically?

For me the past couple of months have gone by like a whirlwind with starting a new job, going through training and actually doing the job. I know that I haven't been keeping up with my blog, I'm trying to figure out how to balance a 40 hour work week with my normal/social life. But I have still taken some pictures in my free time that I can share with you.

Nail Polish is Bumbleberry from Joe Fresh

I have finally figured out the placement for the tattoo's I want to get expect for the one on my left wrist I want to get the love in black ink. I am looking into places but I want to get it done in the fall. Now just have to tell my parents, which will be interesting.

The Best Country Ever

HAPPY CANADA DAY!!!!!!!

I love being Canadian, it's the best country to live especially for health care. Unfortunately the company I work most of our clientele is American, so I work today and tomorrow. But I get stat holiday pay so it's not so bad and I get the 4th off. Lately I have been obsessed with manicures with a stripe but had only been successful once before (it can get really messy). I really wanted to try and see how it turned out and it turned out great! I'll show how easy it can be if you are patient and a bit of OCD.

OPI Base Coat, Alpine Snow, Essie Lollipop, Opi Top Coat

I always use a top coat  and base, no matter what. It helps prevent chipping and gives you nail a clean finish. You want to start with the colour you want as the stripe in the middle and then paint around.

So I started with a white colour called Alpine Snow by my favourite nail brand, OPI. You don't have to make a stripe, just paint the whole nail. I decided just to do my big to in white because it's really hard to do stripes on toes and I have tiny ones.

I decided to use another one of my favourite nail polish brands Essie and the colour is called Lollipop. I let my nail dry for about a day and I don't put on a top coat until I finish the manicure. The next step is to put small strips of tape over the nails you wanna paint. I cut a normal piece of tape into four quarters and then try to place them as best you can.

Then comes the annoying part, waiting for the nails to dry and touch ups. I usually wait for 30 minutes to take off the tape and then out comes the perfectionist in me for touch ups. Needless to say it took a while before everything was finished and I was satisfied.

The Final Results

I loved the end results and I felt very patriotic, even in my little cubicle. I even got a someone compliment me on my manicure and then one of the consumers wished me a happy Canada day (the one Canadian one who called today). Hope everyone had a great Canada Day and day off tomorrow (I'll be in my cubicle). Also happy early 4th of July to all my american readers.
