*Met Ball Fashion Extravaganza*

I realize this post probably should have been done a week or two ago but my new job requires me to stare at a computer everyday. However the night of the Met Ball I stayed up late on Twitter and other websites looking at every single look and pinned almost every single look. Work was a little fuzzy the next morning but it was worth it. So I decided to post some of the trends from the night, along my personal best & worst looks of the night. I would also like to credit Ashley Madekwe's on Twitter (@smashleybell) for live tweeting pics via Just Jared and basically alerting me that the Met Ball was going on. Thank you Ashley and I know you would have had an amazing outfit that would be on my best dressed list if you were at the ball.

Met Ball Trend #1
L-R: Katherine Mcphee in Ellie Sabb, Eva Mendes in Prada, Kristen Bell in Tommy Hilfiger,
Kristen Wiig in Stella McCartney and Ginnfer Goodwin in Monique Lhuillier
Orange
Until this year I have absolutely hated orange, mainly because us pale girls have a hard time wearing the colour. But there were quite a few gorgeous orange dresses on the carpet, my favourite being Ginnifer Goodwin. It's bright without being too florescent, has such gorgeous beading and fits in her body like a dream. Monique Lhuillier's dress are always beautiful, feminine and elegant, so five stars. Runner-up would be Kristen Bell in Tommy Hilfiger, also larger due to my girl crush on her since Veronica Mars. Truly though, she looks classic, elegant and sexy. You can't even tell she's a mini like me (she's only 5' 1") The least favourite worst look would have to be Kristen Wiig. The pattern is too big and looks like it would be fuzzy when you touch it.

Met Ball Trend #2
L-R: Solange Knowles in Rachel Roy, Coca Rocha in vintage Givenchy, Karlie Kloss in Jason Wu, Emma Roberts in Escada, and Emily Blunt in Calvin Klein Collection with her cutie pie hubbie.
Brights/Neon
Lots of yellow and hot pink were some of the funnest and best looks of the night, especially the neon yellow. There are in a three way tie for my favourite bright look but Coca Rocha is winning by a sliver. I wanna give her some award for creativity not just because she is wearing vintage, which I love. But she is wearing a vintage Givenchy pantsuit worn by Elizabeth Taylor and I love her half dyed pink hair. She went balls out and she pulls it off. Runner-up would have to be Solange Knowles in Rachel Roy so basic yet quite stunning.  Personally I thought she looked ten times better than her sister, whose dress/overall look I did not like. Anyway her peplum dress is super flattering and she went simple with her accessories, only one bracelet and clutch. Her Afro looks big but it is controlled and her makeup is classic. Don't really have a worst for this one.

Met Ball Trend # 3
L-R: Leslie Bib in Zac Posen, Lea Michelle in DVF, Ivanka Trump in Peter Pilotto, Bee Shaffer Erdem in Prada & Chelsea Handler in Roland Mourlet.
  Navy Blue
One of my favourite colours in general it's always a sophisticated and elegant choice, so it seems fitting for the Met Ball. My favourite look from this trend is oddly enough Chelsea Handler in Roland Mourlet with a cool Judith Leiber bag. I have seen her past fashion choices which make me shake my head because she such a gorgeous woman. But her dress was so stunning with a great neckline, simple yet sparkly accessories and a glow of woman in love. Love!!! Runner-up would have to be Ivanka Trump in Peter Pilotto (a designer I have not heard of) with her awesome new bangs. When you look closer it's a velvet fabric with pinstripes, which may sound like an odd combination but she looks beautiful and has such amazing confidence. She also keeps it simple with her jewellery with a blingy bangle and her bangs.

Met Ball Trend # 4
L-R: Hailee Steinfeld in Miu Miu, Shailene Woodley in Christoper Kane, M.I.A (dress unknown), Tory Burch,
Rashida Jones, and Brooklyn Decker all in Tory Burch, Jessica Biel in Prada, Sarah Jessica Parker in Valentino,
and Victoria Justice in McQ by Alexander McQueen.
Floral/Garden
One of my favourite trends of the night would be floral and garden inspired frocks (love that word). A lot people associate floral with either granny or super girly, which for the most part can be true. But if you look at Victoria Justice's dress it's young & fun but also edgy. My favourite look would have to be Brooklyn Decker in Tory Burch, which is such a gorgeous colour. Such an intricate bodice, just high enough slit and hairstyle that doesn't distract from the dress. Runner-up would have to be Sarah Jessica Parker in Valentino, I know some people may think it's a granny dress but I love it. It's still fitted but not too tight or loose, the cuffs are edgy twist and she has such amazing hair. Love the little bow on the front too.

Met Ball Trend #5
Clockwise from the top: Leighton Meester, Camilla Belle, Jessica Chastain, Mia Waiksowi, Kate Bosworth, Azelia Banks
Amber Valleta, Lana Del Ray and Jessica Alba.
Dark Lips
I usually don't go to crazy with any makeup related but I noticed quite a lot almost gothic lips. Some almost black some closer to red & pink. Some worked with the outfit like Kate Bosworth, Jessica Alba and Camilla Belle. Some were almost there like Mia W, Lana Del Ray and Alezia Banks and there were some that were just were too dark like Leighton Meester, Jessica Chastain and Amber Valetta.

Worst Dressed
Elizabeth Banks in Mary Katrantzou, Kate Upton in Michael Kors, Amber Heard in Zac Posen, Linda Evangelista in Prada, Jamie King in Topshop, Mary-Kate Olsen in The Row.

Let's start off with my personal worst dressed of the night which includes quite a lot of unflattering satin. Elizabeth Banks; lovely actress, great person, and busiest outfit of the night. The dress is like someone just three or four different pieces of other outfits together, it scrambles my mind. The hair also just makes me cringe, it looks it could be indestructible. Next up is Kate Upton who no one really knows or cares about. For someone who is pushing her fifteen minutes of fame for wearing almost nothing on the cover of Sports Illustrated, she apparently forgot her bra... again. This dress is doing nothing for her body and the makeup is too dark for such a shiny dress. And moving on to Amber Heard in the bad bridesmaid's dress. Too much poof and satin combined with too much self tanner with bleached blond hair and red lips. Leslie Bibb had a much better Zac Posen gown (see Navy Blue trend). The next one disappoints me very much, I mean come on Linda Evangelista!!! Canadian Super Model, looks fabulous for her age and she wear that, that...thing. It looks like something a nun might wear to a social gathering with a giant scrunchie on top of her head. The dress is blah & boring, is a bit big and would put anyone to sleep. But then the next outfit will wake you right you right up by it's pure satin shine. I love Jamie King and the dress wouldn't be so awful if it wasn't for the eye burning fabric. Everything else looks nice to me but satin with the little crosses on them just looks so...yuck! However I am very intrigued my her handbag, which looks awesome. Just change the fabric of the dress and maybe remove the necklace. Last but possibly the the worst is Mary-Kate Olsen in her design by The Row. The dress is interesting the say the least and not super out there but when a woman is that petite the dress just overwhelms her. Plus the new bleached till it falls out fair ages at least fifteen years. Who is the worst of the worst? I would have to say....
Linda Evangelista

Best Dressed
Big Images L-R: Nina Dobrev in Donna Karan Atelier, Coca Rocha in vintage Givenchy and Florence Welch in Alexander McQueen.
Small inset clockwise from left: Ashley Greene in Donna Karan Atelier, Chelsea Handler in Roland Mouret, Brit Marling in Valentino Couture, Sarah Jessica Parker in Valentino, Kate Bosworth in Prada & Brooklyn Decker in Tory Burch

Ok so a couple of these people you have already seen but now they are best dressed out of everyone as opposed their trend categories. The big pictures are my top three of the night but let's talk about my other favourites of the night who haven't already been talked about. Ashley Greene looks like a Grecian goddess with her sexy flowing hair and mini train are just angelic. Then Brit Marling, who is someone I hadn't heard of, in a feminine yet sexy vintage looking dress. On closer look there is a lace band top underneath but has a high neckline with sheer layer on the dress making her look ethereal. Lily Collins had a similar look (ironically it is Valentino) but her's seemed a much heavier fabric and was more of a granny dress. Now onto a trend that has been coming back recently, the flapper dress. Kate Bosworth looked like fun and fancy flapper, with dark lips that look sophisticated and sexy. She made a good choice going with a dark lip because her dress would have been too dark with lighter makeup. And I love her subtle bling and clutch that matches her dress. And now for my top three which I am very proud to say there is two Canadians on there. Third place would be Nina Dobrev in Donna Karan Atelier (her gowns were stunners on the carpet) with a fabulous fan train. Slinky and shiny she looks amazing, although I think her hair in a side ponytail would have been amazing. Second place but very close would have to be Florence Welch in a studtastic Alexander McQueen. I literally have no words for this amazing gown with ample cleavage and just the right amount of poof. Love the round braid on top, she is just working it. And finally my personal best would have to be...

Coca Rocha
I know a lot of people probably aren't a fan of this outfit but I fucking love it. She went for vintage, which I love and made it fun and different with the pink hair. But also what makes her my favourite is her balls to wall confidence in this outfit, I mean look at her smile. Confidence, a lot of time is the best accessory because you can have the best outfit but that doesn't mean anything without confidence.

Vintage Jewellery Goodies

Sorry about not posting last week, I had a couple pre-written posts but they didn't really seem like something I wanted to put out. This weekend my mother decided to go through her massive jewellery collection and I was able to snatch a bunch of her cast-offs. A good portion of the jewellery was some funky vintage stuff and some more modern accessories. Vintage jewellery has always been a love of mine, I would rather wear something unique than something flashy & expensive. Although my mom did give me some pretty shiny earrings. It was actually also a great bonding experience where I learned about some of her childhood and other stories from her jewellery.
My whole jewellery haul

Bracelets, the costume jewelley bracelt is missing a few stones but stunning.

Brooches, the orange one reminds of that YSL Ring

Earrings are vintage except boxed ones. Love the eightes jewellery

Modern Necklaces and my evident Slurpee addiction. Not sure if I like the silver one yet.

Little charms of me and my sis when we were young.
One for each of us and I am going to make mine into a necklace

Added last because mom had a change of heart.
She loved them but knew I would too. Thanks Mommy!!!
Thought I would also recommend some music that I have been listening to:

Cassie Steele Destructo Doll - Groupie is my fav
