The cure for anything is salt water, sweat, tears or the sea
If you follow me on Instagram or twitter you may know about my obsession with nail polish and when I found out about Julep's Monthly Maven Box, I was like, sign me up! I have been receiving the boxes since February but I have always wanted to do review but just never got around to it. This was actually the first box where I managed to avoid seeing what was in the box, since you can check on the website, or get it by email. To be honest the first couple months it was great and then a few months were less than stellar in terms of the nail polish. The beauty products have always been a home run for me and the free samples can be hit and miss (last month was salt water taffy). But this month's box made such a happy girl, great polish and useful free sample and great beauty product. This may be the best box from Julep yet.
I am a sucker for packaging and July's has probably been my favourite, with the exception of their Great Gatsby box. I keep all the monthly quotes on my white board and love anything related to the beach.
How cute is the chevon wrapping paper they used this month? |
Now let's get the nail polishes that were in the box. Out of the two I prefer Karen since it's softer and in my opinion a little more wearable. The polish is a gorgeous orange/peach/coral colour with a light gold shimmer, neutral with a bit of sparkle. Faye is bronze gold colour with a fair amount of shimmer which I think would be great for summer to fall transition. Also I used both the polishes in manicure and the two are a good combo together. Unfortunately I did not take a picture of the manicure but polishes are more vibrant than they appear in the photos.
I was kind of curious when I saw this in the box, not quite sure what to do with it. Basically you just spray on your skin after you get of out of the shower and massage it into your skin. The smell of the oil reminds me so much of the beach with a musky scent almost like an old cottage (which I love some). Amazing packaging, the cutest beach picture.
You always a free sample with each month and some can be really random. But I was so excited to see the Green Tea blotting papers, which I seem to have lost. So sad that I have not been able to try them, hopefully they will turn up soon.
*Author's Note* I meant to have this post up last month but I was very sick during the month of July, so I was not able to complete it before the end of the month.
